Beautifully situated next to the River Nene, Oundle is an ancient market town that offers you both historical buildings and breathtaking natural scenery. The nearby water meadows, a haven for wildlife, are the perfect place to take a peaceful stroll. Plus, artists and anglers will find the area has plenty to keep them busy.

In the town, local Jurassic limestone gives the buildings their characteristic appearance and the 13th-century parish church, with its striking spire, is one of the finest in the Nene Valley. Oundle is also well known for its public school – boasting buildings of outstanding historical and architectural interest. Historians will also enjoy a visit to Fotheringhay Castle ruins – famously known as the site of Mary Queen of Scott’s execution in 1587.

Barnwell Country Park is a must for those in search of picturesque countryside, offering an award winning visitor centre, picnic areas and children’s activities. Bargain hunters will enjoy the street market which takes place in Oundle centre every Thursday.
