Rutland Water Whitwell Cycling Whitwell Car Park Nr Oakham Rutland LE15 8BL Tel: (01780) 460 705 Normanton Normanton Car Park Nr Edith Weston Rutland LE15 8HB Tel: (01780) 720 888 Rutland Water, one of the largest man-made reservoirs in Europe, is a short driving distance from the Nene area with 23 miles of cycle paths (traffic-free) round the Rutland Water. The scenery on the Rutland Water is breathtaking and a great place for cyclists to escape from it all and explore. You can also see people sailing, windsurfing, powerboating or canoeing on the Rutland Water. There are bicycles available for hire at these two centres. If you want to hire a bicycle, it is recommended that you ring them beforehand to avoid disappointment. This place is highly recommended for keen cyclists. Grafham Water, Cambridgeshire Visitor Centre: (01480) 812154 Email: aelliot@anglianwater.co.uk Cycle Hire and Sales: (01480) 812500 Grafham Water is located 1 mile west of A1 from Buckden roundabout and 3 miles south of the A14 near Huntington. There is a ten mile track round the perimeter track with some wonderful views of the Grafham Water. This place is also highly recommended for keen cyclists. Top Lodge, Fineshade Woods (between Stamford and Corby on the A43) Cyclists can explore this beautiful part of the Rockingham Forest by using the 5 mile circular route which starts and finishes at the top of the car park. Part of the route you will find there are some gentle and hilly sections which is shared with horse riders and walkers. Mountain biking is not permitted off the track due to its preservation of this ancient woodland. |
